The AI Takeover

Tuesday, April 25, 2023

Concern over the impact of artificial intelligence and automation on the workforce is nothing new. But with the recent launch of generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, workers’ unease about potential job loss is accelerating. In fact, new research from ResumeBuilder reveals that 30 percent of companies say they plan to use ChatGPT in the future, and six in 10 business leaders say ChatGPT will “definitely” or “probably” lead to more layoffs by the end of 2023. There is no doubt that developments in AI will continue to expand into areas once considered the exclusive domain of humans. Here’s a look at some recent stats on how AI is transforming the world of work.

3/4
of chief information officers and IT leaders say AI and automation have boosted the efficiency of their workforce.

2 out of 5
business leaders plan to use AI to hire and train employees.

42%
of business leaders say they are already accelerating use of AI to reduce hiring needs; 35 percent have plans to accelerate.

8 in 10
business leaders predict humans and machines will work as integrated teams within the next five years.

56%
of business leaders say schools will need to teach students how to learn rather than what to learn to prepare them for jobs that don’t yet exist.
