I've talked to many talent development executives like you who struggle to keep up with ongoing changes in the workplace. Emerging technologies, science and neuroscience, the future of work—these considerations continue to arise. Learning leaders understand that the profession's best practices of today may be irrelevant tomorrow, and they feel a certain anxiety that they will be unable to keep up with this accelerated pace of ongoing change.
That's where CTDO magazine comes in.
We are dedicated to showcasing trends and challenges on the horizon so that you not only can keep up with change, but stay ahead of it. Take, for example, Cynthiann King, vice president of learning and development at Toll Brothers, and the Spotlight of this issue of CTDO. The luxury construction and real estate firm determined it needed to make a major transition to new technology to realize goals for growth and speed. To support those initiatives, King's function has been leading change management efforts since April 2017.
"Like many companies, we have a Vision 2020," King says. "Ours is a very comprehensive revamp of our technology for the homebuilding world. Using more technology will require extensive changes to systems and processes as well as a major skill reset for many employees."
In the Prove It column, authors Roy Pollock and Andy Jefferson explain how to prove the transfer of learning, which they describe as more valuable than learning itself. Additional change-focused topics in this issue include the complexities of reorganization in Angst Index, lessons learned from a succession planning program in Confessions From the C-Suite, and the evolution of the role of chief talent development officer in State of TD.
Thank you for your interest in CTDO magazine, full of essential insight for leaders like you. As always, I'd love to hear your feedback about this issue. What article was your favorite?
